Kamal Quadir is a practitioner who focuses on technology that brings social progress by enabling and empowering people economically. He is the founder and CEO of bKash, a transformative digital financial service in Bangladesh.
Earlier, Kamal founded CellBazaar that introduced cellphone based online marketplace in Bangladesh. Kamal is a founding member of Open World Initiatives, Switzerland based organization of young thinkers. He is involved with Anwarul Quadir Foundation and Shireen Quadir Trust that recognize innovations in developing countries. He received Tech Award for “Applying Technology to Benefit Humanity” in 2007. In 2009, he was selected as a TED Fellow and the World Economic Forum identified him as a Young Global Leader. In 2023, he has been named as one of the global high-impact leaders in finance by the Aspen Institute. He is also an accomplished artist whose work is in the collection of Bangladesh National Museum. He has a BA from Oberlin College and an MBA from the Sloan School of Management at MIT.
