Joanna is the founder and CEO of Arukah, which is scaling high integrity waste to energy and carbon removal in Asia and Africa, with a 50% income share to participating local ecosystems. She has strong conviction on the potential to lift billions out of poverty with verified data, new technology for secure payments and settlement, and financing for scalable access to sustainable, fast growing markets. She serves as one of four impact investment committee members for the UN Sanitation and Hygiene Fund, and advises Figure Technologies, a fintech that has scaled $12Bn of regulated finance on blockchain.
Joanna has served as an independent non-executive board director of Collectius, a SE Asian partner for the World Bank IFC's $40Bn DARP program, MD and Head of Asia at Figure Technologies, and started her career in private equity at Morgan Stanley and Keppel Corporation. She has been involved in building two new $2 billion investment management businesses in Asia at both American and Asian businesses, and worked on first time sustainability reporting, measurement and product development across asset classes from 2012.
Joanna was a Class 2023 Asia Society Asia 21 Young Leader, and is a regular speaker on innovative finance and technology for scaling sustainable development. She graduated Summa cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa from Harvard, and has a Master's from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, and Trinity College, Cambridge, where she was a Gates Cambridge Scholar.
