Will leads Microsoft’s sustainability policy work in Asia-Pacific, based in Singapore. He is responsible for the design and execution of regional strategy and programs for delivering Microsoft’s sustainability targets to 2030, including for carbon, water, waste and ecosystems. Will’s major focus areas are supply chain decarbonization (Scope 3), delivery of carbon-free electricity to Microsoft’s datacentres and suppliers, and enablement of “AI for sustainability” solutions in support of the global energy transition.
Prior to Microsoft, Will worked as a sustainability consultant for more than 12 years, including for McKinsey & Company and the Carbon Trust. In the public sector, he has worked with governments in Asia, Europe and Africa on low carbon initiatives including scenario planning, target setting, policy development, regulatory reform, programme implementation and associated financing. In the private sector, he has worked with corporates and start-ups on low carbon strategy, technology innovation and deployment, primarily in the energy, heavy industry and financial services sectors.
Will holds a Master’s degree in Physics from Imperial College London, and a Master’s degree in Engineering from the University of Cambridge.
