Jessica Lam

As the Group Chief Strategy Officer at WeLab, Hong Kong's largest homegrown fintech, I have been privileged to contribute to our evolution from a startup to a leading fintech player over the past seven years. My journey includes building two digital banks in Hong Kong and establishing a presence in Indonesia, successfully navigating the complexities of launching our operations from the ground up. Before joining WeLab, I spent 13 years at Goldman Sachs as an investment banker across various markets, including Hong Kong, London, and four years in Singapore—a city that holds a special place in my heart. I am passionate about mentoring individuals and fostering the fintech community. I owe much of my growth to the mentors who have guided me, and I believe it is crucial to "pay it forward." In 2023, I embraced this ethos as a "Pay It Forward" mentor for SFF. I frequently speak at public events, conferences, and forums, and I have served as a mentor in structured programs such as AustCham HK’s mentoring program (for three years), Women In Tech, and She Loves Tech. Recently, I completed a four-year term as a Board Member of the Fintech Association of Hong Kong, where I built strong connections within Asia’s fintech landscape. I look forward to the mutual learning experiences that come from engaging with mentees, emphasizing active listening and thoughtful guidance.
