Philippe De Backer is a seasoned investor, operating executive, and strategic advisor to heads of states and business leaders. His experience spans multiple industry sectors including financial services and technology. His geographic experience has been across Europe, US, Middle East, and, China.
Philippe is currently based in Dubai as Managing Partner of Arthur D Little (ADL), the world’s oldest premium management consulting firm. He also leads ADL’s Global Financial Services.
Philippe is leading ADL’s entry into Pakistan, leveraging ADL’s distinctive global leadership in financial services, technology, energy, and, logistics/shipping to advise leaders in achieving Pakistan’s full potential.
Prior to joining Arthur D. Little, Philippe founded a NY based investment firm and successfully led their IPO with a large SPAC backed by BlackRock on NASDAQ to deploy growth capital in domestic US community banks.
Previously, Philippe served as Partner & Global Head of Financial Services. Bain & Company where he worked in Boston, Brussels, Paris, and Dubai offices working with clients to achieve market leadership.
Philippe started his career in technology where he became CEO of ADB, a high technology electronics company, which was part of the Siemens Group where he notably led the company market entry in artificial intelligence.
Philippe De Backer co-authored four books on Banking and Management which includes the best-selling book Maximum Leadership, Go East, Management Audit and most recently Reinvent Retail Banking. He authored many articles in specialized industry publications. He is a frequent keynote speaker at global business conferences.
He holds a MBA from Tuck School at Dartmouth and a BA from Colgate University. He graduated Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa. He is fluent in French, Dutch, English.
Philippe is married and has five children. They live in Dubai. In his free time, he is an avid skier and a passionate Asian art collector.
