Former New Zealand Cricket Captain & Head Coach, Chennai Super Kings

Stephen Paul Fleming ONZM is a New Zealand born cricket coach and former captain of the New Zealand national cricket team. He is considered one of the greatest batsmen and leaders for the New Zealand national cricket team and is regarded as one of the world’s current premier cricket coaches, having lead the Chennai Super Kings to a record number of titles in the highly competitive professional, Indian Premier League (IPL).

Stephen retired from international cricket in March 2008, having played in the 2008 Indian Premier League for the Chennai Super Kings and became the team's coach from 2009. In February 2015 he was signed as coach of the Melbourne Stars of the Australian Big Bash League (a T20 cricket league). In 2018 he resumed his duties as head coach of the Chennai Super Kings, after a two-year stint coaching rising Pune Supergiants. As part of the Chennai franchise, Stephen was appointed as the head coach of Joburg Super Kings in 2022 for the SA20 league (a South African based tournament). In 2023, he was also filled the role as the coach of Texas Super Kings for the newly established Major League Cricket, a tournament based in the USA. Stephen has coached professionally in England, and he has recently spent time with the New Zealand Cricket team as part of their build up to the 2023 Cricket World Cup.

Stephen has many business interests, including that as a director, founding shareholder, and ambassador of QualityNZ, a company focused on suppling products and services to the burgeoning Indian market and surrounding markets.

Stephen has held numerous government agency roles, including ambassadorial roles for Education New Zealand and Tourism New Zealand, and he was asked to accompany former Prime Minister Sir John Key, on his visit to India in 2011.
