Yo Okada joined the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry in 2006, where he has been in charge of trade and macroeconomic policies. He engaged in TPP (Trans-Pacific Partnership) negotiations at the TPP Headquarters of the Cabinet Secretariat from 2013 to 2017, and worked on a strategic bid campaign for EXPO 2025 at the Embassy of Japan in France from 2017 to 2020. Then, he served as Director of the Policy Planning and Research Office at the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, where he formulated the White Paper on International Economy and Trade. Since 2022, he has been orchestrating comprehensive coordination of Japan's Regulatory Sandbox and startup support measures as Counsellor at the Secretariat of New Form of Capitalism Realization Headquarters. He is also a Consulting Fellow at the Research Institute of Economy, Trade and Industry.
