Amita Chaudhury is the Group Head of Sustainability at AIA, and a Board member of the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) Principles for Sustainable Insurance (PSI).
At AIA, Amita spearheads the integration of sustainability into business strategy, operations and culture for Asia’s largest health and life insurer. In three years, she has led a “whole organization effort", influencing the development of ESG plans across AIA’s 18 markets and building a culture of sustainability among 25,000 employees through initiatives such as the flagship multi-year eco-office movement, AIA CAN. In 2023, Amita led AIA to become the first pan-Asian insurer to receive validation for their near-term emissions reduction targets by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and published their first Climate Transition Plan, significant step forward in the company's commitment to net-zero emissions by 2025.
Prior to AIA, Amita spent over a decade at Unilever to embed sustainable practices across its portfolio of leading consumer brands as Head of Sustainable Business for Southeast Asia and Australia and Global Diversity & Inclusion Director.
She was seconded from Unilever to the United Nations Global Compact, New York as a senior advisor on sustainability learning from 2019 to 2020. In 2018, Amita was recognized by the World Business Council of Sustainable Development as a “Leading Women in Sustainability”.
