Akihiko Sato graduated from the University of Tokyo in 1990 and began his career at The Mitsubishi Bank (now part of MUFG Bank) as a new graduate. After gaining experience in branch operations, he specialized in economic and financial analysis, while also gaining expertise in international retail strategy, including overseas bank acquisitions, and financial strategies for international divisions. From 2015 to 2022, he served as Chief Economist at MUFG Bank. In February 2024, Sato transitioned to PayPay Corporation, where he currently serves as Vice General Manager of the Financial Strategy Division, primarily focusing on collaboration projects with PayPay Bank.
