Dr. Saurabh Garg, is the Secretary of the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, Govt. of India. He previously served as Secretary, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, focusing on policies for vulnerable communities. As the Chief Executive of the Unique Identification Authority of India, he led the team for strengthening the technology stack of the Aadhaar eco-system. His past roles include positions in the Ministry of Finance, Govt. of India where he played a key role in the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) programmes and Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) policy formulation. An officer of the Indian Administrative Service, he has over the years served as Secretary, Agriculture, Urban Development and Industries in the Government of Odisha. He was on a secondment as an Adviser at the World Bank in Washington DC. Dr. Garg holds a Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University, an MBA from IIM Ahmedabad, and a B.Tech from IIT Delhi.
